Legumes: low-fat vegetable products

Treatment of these herbal products

The cooking time to be selected depends on the type of legume. Also, some of the unpeeled species, except lentils, need to be soaked for several hours before cooking. Somewhat unpleasant are their flatulent properties, as they usually contain carbohydrates that are difficult to digest. Special fresh or dried kitchen herbs, e.g. savory, can facilitate digestion.

Observe optimal storage

One should store the various legumes as dark and airy as possible. The expiry date or the respective shelf life must be observed. Usually they can be stored for about a year.
