Vinegar and oil – the aromatic food refiners

Vinegar and oil are often used together to make a salad dressing, which can be complemented with herbs and salt, pepper and sugar. While oil provides the essential fatty acids, vinegar contains a number of vitamins and minerals.

Cooking oils were already used by the Romans and in Greece during antiquity to refine dishes. Since ancient times, vinegar has also been one of the seasonings that give food an enjoyable taste.

The nutritional value contained

In vinegar and oil can be found a variety of nutrients that are important for human health. The fatty acids in the oil are an essential part of a balanced diet and have a high energy value as well. Even in the context of weight loss, it is important to ensure that the body is supplied with fats. The individual types of vinegar are also differentiated according to the degree of acidity, which in the case of apple cider vinegar is about 5 percent. Vinegar provides the typical sour taste with which the dishes are seasoned.

Besides making a vinaigrette with vinegar and oil, for which white wine vinegar is often used, many other meals can be prepared. Oil is used for browning food and vinegar finds its application in pickling or even the preparation of drinks diluted with water.

Due to the healthy nutrients, vinegar and oil are recommended for occasional consumption and refinement of dishes. Especially during weight reduction, care should be taken to adjust the consumption of oil due to its high fat content. Vinegar is said to have a metabolism-boosting effect, which is why it can stimulate fat burning and is recommended for weight loss. Vinegar and oil is a good alternative to salad mayonnaise, which contains more calories.
